ROUTE

Day 1: Fly to Quito - Otavalo

  • Arrive in Quito and travel to a comfortable hotel in Otavalo.

Day 2: Otavalo – Cuicocha – Community

  • Visit the impressive Andean market in Otavalo.
  • Take a short hike around Cuicocha Lake perched at an altitude of 3,100 m.
  • Travel to the Andean community and get settled with your host family.

Day 3: Community

  • Participate in community activities with residents.
  • Meet with local residents.
  • Eat with the group and your host family.

Day 4: Community – Imbaburra Volcano

  • Experience a superb climb to the edge of the Imbabura Crater.
  • Eat a bagged lunch during the excursion.
  • Return to your host family.

Day 5: Community

  • Participate in community activities with residents.
  • Visit the school and participate in activities with the children.
  • Experience a traditional cultural evening with dance and music.

Day 6: Community – Mitad del Mundo - Cotopaxi Volcano

  • Travel to the Cotopaxi Volcano through the famous volcano avenue.
  • Take an excursion to Mitad del Mundo, where the Equator is located.
  • Get settled at a hostel near the Cotopaxi Volcano.

Day 7: Cotopaxi Volcano - Banos

  • Climb to the Cotopaxi Refuge, near the volcano's crater: drive to 4,600 m and climb on foot for the remaining 250 m.
  • Reward yourself with a piping hot cup of tea!
  • Travel to the city of Banos.

Day 8: Banos – Amazon rain forest

  • Explore the downtown area.
  • Travel to the Amazon via the superb waterfall route.

Day 9: Amazon rain forest

  • Raft on the Jatun Yacu River.
  • Visit amaZOOnico, an animal protection and rehabilitation centre.

Day 10: Amazon rain forest – Papallacta – Palugo

  • Travel to the Papallacta hot springs.
  • Enjoy a relaxing break in this complex, which is one of the most beautiful and warmest complexes in Ecuador.
  • Continue to the Palugo farm with organic gardens.

Day 11: Palugo - Quito

  • Participate in chores on the farm.
  • Transfert à Quito.
  • Visit the Ecuadorian capital, declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
  • Discover its cultural centre and the city’s major tourist attractions.

Day 12: Fly back home
